The Bobcats earned two big wins this weekend over Smith (6-0) and UConn (5-2). After beating Smith 5-1 last weekend at home, Bates traveled to MA for a rematch. Kara Sullivan '10 opened the scoring with 4 minutes left in the first period, and Sammi Landino '13 scored just 17 seconds later on a breakaway. Sullivan got her second goal of the game halfway though the second period. Shauna Mulvihill '12 stepped up on forward and earned a goal, while Kathleen Boyland '11 scored two in the third to bring the final score to 6-0. Lauren Slipp '10 had three assists in the win, and Kailey Worboys '13, Annie Cravero '13, and Boyland chipped in with one apiece. Chelsea Bolton '12 played a solid game in net for the shut-out.
Bates continued their winning streak with a 5-2 win over UConn at home on Sunday. Down 1-0 late in the first, Liz Lawson '13 found the back of the net with 43 seconds left to tie the game. Bates came out hard in the second and took the lead again thanks to Nola Palombo '10. UConn fought back with a goal of their own, but Lauren Slipp '10 put Bates back on top with 4 minutes left in the second. Rachel Laaff '10 added a powerplay goal at the beginning of the third, and Kara Sullivan '10 had a nice tip in to end the game at 5-2. Slipp earned three assists, and Sullivan, Jenny Tu '13 and Sammi Landino '13 each contributed one. Chelsea Bolton had another great game in goal to secure the Bobcat victory.
